【摘要】:Shredderexplosionshaveoccurredinmostrefuseprocessingplantswithshreddingfacilities.Lessonslearnedintheseincidentshavebeenincorporatedintothispracticealongwithresultsofrelevanttestprogramsandgeneralindustrialexplosionprotectionrecommendedpractices.Recommendationsinthispracticecoverexplosionprotectionaspectsofthedesignandoperationofshreddingfacilitiesandequipmentusedtherein.Thispracticeisnotintendedtobeasubstituteforanoperatingmanualoradetailedsetofdesignspecifications.Rather,itrepresentsgeneralprinciplesandguidelinestobeaddressedindetailingeneratingtheoperatingmanualanddesignspecifications.1.1Thispracticecoversgeneralrecommendeddesignfeaturesandoperatingpracticesforshredderexplosionprotectioninresourcerecoveryplantsandotherrefuseprocessingfacilities.1.2Hammermillsandothertypesofsizereductionequipment(collectivelytermedshredders)areemployedatmanyfacilitiesthatmechanicallyprocesssolidwastesforresourcerecovery.Flammableorexplosivematerials(forexample,gases,vapors,powders,andcommercialandmilitaryexplosives)maybepresentintheas-receivedwastestream.Thereispotentialforthesematerialstobereleased,dispersed,andignitedwithinornearashredder.Therefore,explosionpreventionanddamageameliorationprovisionsarerequired.
