【摘要】:1.1Thispracticecoversmethodsfortestingthephysicalpropertiesofmechanical(passive)securityseals.Whereappropriate,thevarioustestsincludeparticularapparatusorproceduralspecificationsrequiredfordifferenttypesofsecurityseals.Thispracticedoesnotaddressadhesive(tapeorlabelstyle)orelectronictypesofsecurityseals.1.2Thispracticewillserveasabasisforcomparingtheresponseofvarioussecuritysealsunderdifferentsimulatedmodesofattack.Thesecuritysealtobeevaluatedshallfirstbeclassifiedintoestablishedgroupings,andthentestedinthemannerdesignatedasmostsuitableforthatclassofseal,inaccordancewithClassificationF832.1.3Amechanicalsecuritysealisasingleuse,passivedeviceintendedtodetecttamperingorentryintothesealeditem.Removalofthesecuritysealrequirespermanentandirreversibledamagetotheseal.Thefollowingproceduresreflecttherelativeperformanceofsecuritysealswhensubjecttovariousdestructivephysicalattacks.Thesetestssimulateknownandlikelysecuritysealimplementationandattackmethods.1.4Securitysealsoftencontainuniqueidentificationmarkingsforauthenticationpurposestodiscouragesduplicationandtopreventreapplication.Thispracticedoesnotaddressuniqueidentifiersorvulnerabilitiesofsecurityseals.Note18212;SeeGuideF1158forproceduresontheinspectionandevaluationoftamperingofsecurityseals.SeealsoGuideF946.1.5Itistheresponsibilityofusersofthispracticetointerprettheirspecificsecurityneedsconcerningtheapplicationofseals,andtodeterminethegradeofsealappropriatefortheirparticularapplication.ASTMassumesnoresponsibilityforlossesoccurringasaresultofadefeatedseal,whetherthedefeatisapparent,orthesealisnotsuitedforitsapplication.1.6Thevaluesasstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesaregivenforinformationonly.1.7Thefollowingsafetyhazardscaveatpertainsonlytothetestproceduresportion,Section6,ofthispractice.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
