【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesaprocedureforperforminglaboratoryteststodeterminetheminimumautoignitiontemperature(MAIT)ofadustcloud.Thetestdatadevelopedfromthistestmethodcanbeusedtolimitthetemperaturetowhichadustcloudisexposedsoastopreventignitionofthecloud.Becauseoftheshortdurationofthetest,thedataobtainedaremostapplicabletoindustrialequipmentwheredustispresentasacloudforashorttime.BecauseofthesmallscaleofthetestandthepossiblevariationoftheMAITvaluewithscale,thedataobtainedbythistestmethodmaynotbedirectlyapplicabletoallindustrialconditions.TheMAITdatacanalsobeusedinconjunctionwithminimumsparkignitiondatatoevaluatethehazardsofgrindingandimpactsparksinthepresenceofdustclouds(1and2).3Thetestvaluesobtainedarespecifictothesampletested,themethodused,andthetestequipmentutilized.Thetestvaluesarenottobeconsideredintrinsicmaterialconstants,butmaybeusedasarelativemeasureofthetemperatureatwhichadustcloudselfignites.Thetestdataareforcloudignition.Dustintheformofalayermayigniteatsignificantlylowertemperaturesthanthesamedustintheformofacloud(3).Forliquidchemicals,seeTestMethodE659.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheminimumtemperatureatwhichagivendustcloudwillautoignitewhenexposedtoairheatedinafurnaceatlocalatmosphericpressure.1.2Dataobtainedfromthistestmethodprovidearelativemeasureofdustcloudautoignitiontemperatures.1.3Thistestmethodshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribethepropertiesofmaterials,products,orassembliesinresponsetoheatandflameundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefirehazardorfireriskofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.However,resultsofthistestmethodmaybeusedaselementsofafireriskassessmentwhichtakesintoaccountallofthefactorswhicharepertinenttoanassessmentofthefirehazardofaparticularenduse.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
